What it is
The Trip Binder is a trip app for teachers, band and orchestra directors, and the chaperones who help them. It holds the roster, the schedule, head counts and bus count-offs, rooms and buses, medical and emergency details, and updates for families. It runs on the web and on iPhone and Android.
Why I built it
I’m Chris, a music teacher. Over nearly 20 years of teaching, I’ve taken thousands of students on field trips. Before each one, I’d put together red binders full of rosters, rooming lists and itineraries for our chaperones. Then something would change, and I’d be reprinting pages and tracking everyone down.
I built The Trip Binder because I wanted an easier way to keep everyone organized and to keep my students safe in an emergency. It is the binder, except it changes on every chaperone’s phone when the plan does, and it still works when there’s no signal.
How it is meant to work
A teacher should be able to run a whole trip without IT. Day trips are free at any roster size, so trying it costs nothing. A student’s medical details are seen by the trip’s staff, the student and their family, nobody else, and they are deleted 30 days after the trip ends. The security page has the details.
Who’s behind it
The Trip Binder is built and run by Wondernook Studios LLC, an independent software studio in Pennsylvania.
