The code or invite email never arrived

School and district email often holds or blocks mail from new senders. Here is what parents, students and organizers can do instead.

Updated Oct 14, 2026

Our emails come from hello@thetripbinder.com. Most arrive within a minute. When one does not, the usual reason is the school's email system, not anything you did.

Why school email misses messages

Many schools and districts run strict filters on staff and student mailboxes. Some hold mail from a sender they have not seen much of in a quarantine folder that only IT can release. Some student mailboxes only accept mail from an approved list of senders and quietly refuse everything else. Neither one tells you a message was stopped.

Personal addresses, such as Gmail, Outlook.com or iCloud, are rarely affected.

If you are waiting for a sign-in or confirmation code

  1. Check your junk or spam folder, and any quarantine notice from your school.
  2. Wait a minute and use Resend code. Type only the newest code.
  3. Skip the code entirely: go back and use Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft (or Sign in with Apple on iPhone). If your school gives you a Google or Microsoft account, this signs you in with it and no email is needed.
  4. Or sign up with a personal email address you check.

If you are waiting for an invite

You do not need the email to join a trip.

  • Parents: ask the organizer for the trip code. Open the website or app, choose Join with a code, then I'm a parent or guardian, and enter your child's name and date of birth. See Join a trip.
  • Staff and parents with an invite: ask the organizer to copy the invite link and send it to you by text or another email. When you open it, sign in with the address the invite was sent to. With a different address, the invite cannot link you straight away: someone has to confirm it first.

For organizers

  • Share links another way. On Staff & permissions, invites can be shared directly with Also share the link directly. On a traveler's page, a parent invite that is still waiting has Copy link.
  • Hand out the trip code. Roster, then Invite travelers, has the code and a printable how-to-join handout. Codes work without any email.
  • Suggest Google or Microsoft sign-in to students and staff with school accounts.
  • Ask your IT team to allow mail from thetripbinder.com. In Microsoft 365 this is usually an allow entry for the domain; for Google student accounts it is adding the domain to the approved senders. One request fixes it for everyone at your school.

Announcement emails to parents also come from us. Replies to them are not read, so remind parents to use Ask the staff in the app, or to contact you directly.

Still stuck? Contact us and tell us the school and roughly when the email was sent.
