Ways to sign in
- Email and password.
- Email me a sign-in code. We email a 6-digit code instead of using a password.
- Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft, on the website and in the app.
- Sign in with Apple, in the iPhone app.
Every method signs in to the same account. You can see which ones your account uses under Account, then Sign-in & security, in the Sign-in methods section.
Creating an account
On Create account, first pick who you are: Teacher or staff, Parent or guardian, or Traveler. Then add your name, date of birth, email and a password, or use Google, Microsoft or Apple. You must be 13 or older. If you sign up with Google, Microsoft or Apple, the app asks for your date of birth the first time you use it.
The choice only sets where you land. A teacher can still link their own child, and anyone can join a trip with a code.
Why we send codes, not links
To confirm your address or reset a password, we email a 6-digit code that you type in. School mail filters often open links automatically to check them, which can use up a one-time link before you ever see it. A code cannot be used up that way. You can ask for a new code once a minute.
If the code never arrives
School and district mail filters sometimes hold our messages without telling anyone.
- Check your junk or quarantine folder.
- Use Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft if your school email runs on one of them. No code email is needed.
- Sign up with a personal email address instead. Nothing requires a school address.
- Ask your IT team to allow mail from thetripbinder.com.
Forgot your password?
Tap Forgot? on the website or Forgot password? in the app. We email a code; enter it and choose a new password. If your account was made with Google, Microsoft or Apple, it may have no password. Sign in the same way you signed up, then add a password if you want one. See Change your email or password.
Two-factor authentication
For extra protection, open Sign-in & security, then Two-factor authentication, and tap Add authenticator. After that, signing in also asks for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app. It is optional.
Your name and date of birth
- Edit your name from Account (the pencil next to your name on the website, or My profile in the app).
- Set or fix your date of birth on the website under Account, then App settings. It helps match you to your record when you join a trip.
