What counts as overnight?
A trip that comes home on a later day than it leaves. Leave at 5 a.m. and get home at midnight, and it is still a day trip.
Build first, pay when you publish
You can build an overnight trip on the free plan: roster, schedule, buses, groups, documents and the family portal. Pro is needed to publish it to chaperones and families, and to add hotels and rooms. Nothing you set up is lost while you decide. See Why is my overnight trip asking me to pay?
Who pays
Only the person who creates a trip. Chaperones, co-organizers, families and travelers never pay for a trip they were invited to.
How you pay
- On iPhone and iPad, through Apple.
- On Android, through Google Play.
- On the website, through our payment provider. We never see or store your card details.
- Schools and districts can pay by purchase order. Email hello@thetripbinder.com.
Trip Pass
The one-time Trip Pass was withdrawn from sale on 9 September 2026. If you bought one, it still works, permanently, on the trip you bought it for.
