Website or phone app: what differs

One account and the same trips everywhere. Here is what only the phone app does, what only the website does, and which to use when.

Updated Oct 14, 2026

The Trip Binder runs on the website, on iPhone and iPad, and on Android. It is one account with the same trips everywhere. Set a trip up on your laptop, take attendance on your phone, and everyone sees the change.

A simple rule of thumb: plan on the website, run the trip on the phone.

Only in the phone app

  • Lock-screen notifications for announcements, chat and meeting points.
  • Bus count-off, the fast head count before a bus leaves.
  • Scanning bags and luggage tags with the camera.
  • Working with no signal. The roster, schedule and contacts stay on the phone, and attendance marks wait and sync later. See Working offline.
  • Saving documents to the phone so they open on a plane or a bus.
  • Lock Screen tracker for a schedule event (iPhone, and Android 16 or newer).
  • Transfer ownership of a trip to a co-organizer, under Trip settings.
  • Buying Pro through the App Store or Google Play.

Only on the website

  • Printing luggage tags with QR codes.
  • The full Excel export of the roster and reports. The phone can share a roster as CSV text.
  • Custom roster fields, including marking a field Staff only.
  • Putting travelers into groups. The phone shows groups but assignments are made on the website.
  • Bulk roster photos, the rooming list, and the printable how-to-join handout.
  • Opening and closing dates for room and bus choices.
  • Buying Pro with a card.

Easier on a big screen

Importing a roster, checking column matches, building a long schedule, and reviewing room choices all work on the phone, but a laptop is kinder.

Finding things

On the website, each trip has a menu down the left side, and you can press Ctrl+K (or ⌘K on a Mac) to search. On the phone, the bottom bar holds your most-used tools and More opens Trip tools, which has a search box. See I can't find a feature.

Signing in

Email and password, Continue with Google and Continue with Microsoft work on both. Sign in with Apple is offered in the iPhone app. Use the same method everywhere and you land in the same account.
