Some groups make the same trip again and again: a marching band at seven Saturday competitions, a team at its away games. Instead of building seven trips, make one multi-date trip with a travel day for each date. You keep one roster, one team of chaperones, one set of buses and one folder of documents for the whole season.
Turn it on
- New trip: choose This trip has several travel days when you create it.
- Existing trip: open Trip settings › Travel days and choose Make this a multi-date trip. The same button is on the Travel days page.
Only organizers can switch a trip's mode. To go back, choose Switch back to a single date in Trip settings. The travel days and any "not traveling" marks are removed, and the trip keeps its first-to-last span as its dates.
Add travel days
Open Travel days (from the trip home or Trip settings, on the website or in the app) and add days. For each one you can set:
- the Date
- a Label (optional), like "Cavalcade of Bands"
- a Destination
- Depart and Return times (optional)
A day that returns after midnight is marked Overnight. The trip's overall dates are worked out from its travel days, so you never set them separately. A published trip must keep at least one day.
Who is not traveling that day
Pick a day, then mark anyone who is skipping it, travelers or staff. They are left out of that day's attendance and bus count-off, and families see it on the family portal. Anyone on the trip can mark themselves out of a day they cannot make.
Pricing
Building a multi-date trip is free. Publishing one needs Pro, and so does any single travel day that runs overnight. A season of same-day trips can also be run as separate free day trips. See Overnight trips and upgrading and Plans and pricing.
Good to know
- Each travel day appears as an all-day entry in the trip calendar.
- Weather forecasts cover the travel days only.
- Duplicating the trip copies its travel days, shifted by the same amount. "Not traveling" marks are not copied.
